Partner Church Committee
The Partner Church Committee maintains the relationship with the Fellowship’s partner church in Sinfalva, Romania (Transylvania). Sinfalva is about 15 miles from Torda, the birthplace of Unitarianism in the 16th century. The Committee raises funds, disseminates information about the origins and history of Unitarianism and its state in modern-day Romania, and encourages contacts between the members of the two congregations.
The mission of the PCC is to:
- Inform the members of the Fellowship about the historical origins of American Unitarianism, from its beginnings in Transylvania onwards.
- Give the members of the Fellowship some insight into the differences in beliefs and style which have evolved, and some of the major events that caused this evolution.
- Develop personal relationships with individual residents of Sinfalva and members of the Fellowship, including letters and visits. Foster mutual growth, sympathy, encouragement, and emotional and moral support, to the residents and congregation of Sinfalva and the Fellowship.
- Provide assistance, including but not limited to financial, to help the Unitarian Church in Sinfalva and Transylvania as a whole to survive and thrive.
- Be open to learning and guidance from the Transylvanian Unitarian tradition.
Service Committee Action Network (SCAN)
SCAN provides information for the Fellowship regarding humanitarian concerns in Central America. It runs an annual Benefit Coffee House each January to raise funds to be sent to the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, Peace Works and other charitable organizations.
Signature Project
This is the Fellowship’s annual service project which is designed to put our UU values into action by focusing resources on an identified need(s) within our local community. A variety of programs and initiatives provide for multi-generational volunteer involvement.
Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office Envoy and Committee
The Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office (formerly UU-UNO), https://www.uua.org/international-justice/un is an NGO with consultative status at the UN, which offers access to critical forums and working groups for real influence on issues being worked at that global body. Recent initiatives include a successful push to have GLBT rights recognized as human rights on the world stage; Women & Security; and Women & Climate Change. The annual Spring Seminar in April brings together Unitarian Universalists from all over the United States and Canada to study and form action plans to promote Unitarian Universalist values and Principles.
The Fellowship Envoy Committee represents the UU-UNO within our congregation, raises funds to support the group through individual and congregational membership; disseminates information on current UN activities as well as the UU-UNO’s own programs, and plans Sunday Services and other events at the Fellowship to promote UU UNO’s goals.
UU Faith Action NJ
The Fellowship is a member of the UU Faith Action of NJ. Fellowship members with interests in health care, economic and environmental justice, marriage equality, and immigration reform can join with other UU congregations to effect change through the legislative process.
