As the facilitator for the UU Writers — Soul Matters group, I am very happy and excited to explore this adventure with you all.
This UU Writers group is all about helping each other find our spirit and our voices through writing – in whatever form that comes, be it story, poetry, essay, memoir, fiction or nonfiction, etc.
It is all about support, discovery and appreciation, but it is not at all about critique or correcting each other. In each session there will be some prompts/exercises for spurring creativity and writing, which will be sent out to the group, registered for the course through Realm, ahead of each meeting. Participants are encouraged to do as few, or as many, of the writing exercises as they like, in any order they prefer, or just journal on their own, in advance of our meetings. We will also take some time to write during the sessions.
We will share these writings, as people are willing to do so. Participants are always free to pass, but we hope to provide a supportive and safe environment to encourage such sharing. Participants are also encouraged to bring something to write with and to write on or in — like a favorite pen and pad or journal.
The curriculum also includes some songs, to listen to while writing, and/or to play at our sessions as well.
