We will gather on Saturday June 7 from 10AM to 11AM in the Sanctuary to explore the 3rd and
final open question of the year. The setting is different but the format will be the same. Small
groups will respond to prompts that will help gather wisdom. All are welcome and there will be
snacks.
The third Open Question is “What is our Mission?”.
We will not be crafting a new Mission Statement during this time. Instead, we will be exploring
the values that drive us individually and collectively. We will share the ways that those values
lead us to work for the common good.
Did you know that the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) has simplified the statement of
the principles that many grew up with? Here is the new statement of values from the UUA
https://www.uua.org/beliefs
Love is the power that holds us together and is at the center of our shared values. The values we
share include all the following, which we hold as inseparable and deeply interconnected:
Interdependence: We honor the interdependent web of all existence and acknowledge our place
in it.
Pluralism: We are all sacred beings, diverse in culture, experience, and theology.
Justice: We work to be diverse multicultural Beloved Communities where all feel welcome and
can thrive.
Transformation: We adapt to the changing world.
Generosity: We cultivate a spirit of gratitude and hope.
Equity: We declare that every person is inherently worthy and has the right to flourish with
dignity, love, and compassion.
Mission is rooted in who we are and the values we hold dear. It also requires us to examine
what we are called to do in the world. This allows us to put passion into action to do what we
can to make the world a better place for us all.
Please join us so that we can learn from each other. Like the previous open questions, the
information gathered will help guide the Board and Minister in forming the Vision of Ministry
for the next year.
