BUILDING OUR FUTURE –
JOIN THE JOURNEY!
“We are a dynamic congregation, growing in spirit, community, numbers, and impact seeking to transform ourselves and the world beyond us.“
This Vision Statement, from the five-year strategic plan that began in 2009, led us to several priority areas on which to focus our attention. One of these areas was our facilities, where our goal was to:
Establish and maintain a spiritual home that supports our mission and vision; provides adequate space for worship, lifespan religious education, meetings, functions and administration, and which is safe, welcoming and well maintained.
Following several years of discernment concerning alternatives, the Congregation voted to remain at our current location and to renovate and supplement our existing facilities. In the spring of 2014, there was a further vote to pursue a Capital Project.
We are now engaged in the public approval process for our Plan, which entails a series of presentation to the Morris Township Zoning Board of Adjustment at their monthly meetings. Once that approval is obtained, we will complete the actual construction drawings for the new building, review those with membership and hold a Congregational vote to approve the final project budget and source of funds.
These are exciting times for Morristown Unitarian Fellowship and the Gateways mansion. Stay tuned and let’s live the dream!
“From dreaming to wishing
From wishing to planning
From planning to doing
From doing to done.”
Stephen B. Wiley – Former Fellowship President and Morristown Visionary
